Ilya Bryzgalov hasn't been around Philadelphia Flyers fans all that long, but the goaltender already has learned they're a fickle bunch.
Performance counts -- play well and the fans will pour out their appreciation. Fail to meet expectations, well, you won't have to go far to hear about that.
"From hating to the love in one step," Bryzgalov said recently. "And the same in the other direction."
Bryzgalov's recent play has directed the fans firmly onto the love path.
He enters Thursday's game at the New York Islanders with three straight shutouts and four in his last five starts. He carries a 196:13 shutout streak that's the third-longest in club history into the game, leaving him just 31:27 shy of John Vanbiesbrouck's club record.
